Covid in Wakefield: All the school closures in place in Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford after coronavirus cases confirmed

As the pandemic continues, schools in Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford are continuing to close classes and bubbles to prevent outbreaks of Covid-19.

It means that some students may be asked to study from home for up to two weeks, if members of their class bubbles test positive for the virus.

These are all the schools in Wakefield and the Five Towns which currently have closures in place due to Covid-19.

A staff bubble at St. Thomas CE (VC) Junior School, Featherstone, has closed. Members of the admin/senior leadership team bubble have been advised to self-isolate, and are expected to return to school from Monday, April 12.

A closure is also in place at Snapethorpe Primary School in Lupset. Year five bubble Cuba has been forced to close. Self-isolation for affected members will end on Tuesday, March 30.

Pinders Primary School has also been forced to close a class bubble after a member tested positive for Covid-19. The year 3/4 bubble closed earlier this month, and is expected to reopen from Monday, March 29, during the Easter Holidays.

The reception class at Outwood Primary Academy Kirkhamgate has also closed to all staff and students. Those affected will be allowed to return to the classroom from Monday, April 12.

Three classes are closed at Northfield Primary & Nursery School in South Kirkby. Year three bubble Deer, year five bubble Dolphins and year 5/6 bubble Kingfishers are all closed, and advised to self-isolate until Monday, March 29.

At Martin Frobisher Infant School, in Normanton, the Reception bubble has been closed. The self-isolation period will come to an end at the weekend, and members will be allowed to return to school following the Easter break.

And a year 6 bubble has been closed at Lawefield Primary School, Wakefield, after a case of Covid-19 was confirmed. The bubble will reopen from Monday, April 12, following the Easter Holidays.

A partial closure is also in place at Grove Lea Primary School, Hemsworth. Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils are among those affected, and will be allowed to return to school after the Easter break.

Flushdyke J&I School has also implemented a closure for the year 5 and 6 bubble, after a member tested positive for Covid-19. Affected staff and pupils will be allowed to return to school from Monday, April 12.
