These are the schools in Wakefield and the Five Towns which are currently fully or partially closed due to Covid-19.

Airedale Academy

Airedale Academy, in Castleford, is currently closed to Year 9 students.

In a letter to parents, the school said it had been forced to take the decision to ask Year 9 students to learn from home as a result of staff shortages.

A further update will be issued this week, and students are expected to return to school on Thursday, November 19.

Featherstone All Saints CofE Academy

The reception class at Featherstone All Saints has been asked to begin isolating for two weeks, after a member of the class bubble tested positive for Covid-19.

In a letter to parents, the school said: "We have been made aware this morning that we have a confirmed positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) at Featherstone All Saints CofE Academy within the Reception class bubble.

"The confirmed case was last in contact with the Reception bubble on Friday 13th November. They subsequently, received a positive test result on Monday 16th November after developing symptoms on Sunday 15th November.

"We have followed the national guidance and the Reception class bubble must stay at home and self-isolate until Sunday 29th November and be able to return to school on Monday 30th November."

Middlestown Primary Academy

The Upper Foundation bubble at Middlestown Primary Academy is currently closed after a member tested positive for Covid-19.

Members of the bubble have been asked to self-isolate, and the bubble will reopen on Wednesday, November 25.

Normanton Newlands Primary School

The Communication Resource at Newlands Primary School, which provides specialist support to students, is closed while staff isolate.

The team will remain closed until Tuesday, November 24.

Outwood Grange Academy

Year 9 students at Outwood Grange Academy have been asked to study from home this week as a result of "exceptional levels of staff absence".

In a tweet, the academy specified that students were not expected to self-isolate unless they had otherwise been contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

The tweet read: "You are only self-isolating if you have received a direct text message or phone call from the Attendance team or from NHS Track and Trace. All students, whether self-isolating or home due to partial closure, will be able to access work in Google Classrooms."

Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane

One Year 5 class at Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane has been closed after a member of the bubble tested positive for Covid-19.

In a letter to parents, the school said: "We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.

"We know that you may find this concerning but are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with the Department for Education/Public Health England."

The affected class will remain closed until Friday, November 27.

Sandal Magna Community Academy

The Reception and Morning Nursery class bubbles at Sandal Magna Community Academy remain closed as a result of Covid-19.

Southdale CE (VC) Junior School

Three classes are currently affected by Covid-19 at Southdale CE Junior School, with full and partial closures in place.

Classes 4RR and 5EZ are fully closed, while class 5FD is partially closed as a result of the virus.

St. Giles CE Academy

Three classes at St Giles CE Academy are currently closed as a result of members of class bubbles testing positive for coronavirus.

Classes 1 and 2 will remain closed until Monday, November 23, while class 6 will remain closed until Monday, November 30.

Stanley Grove Primary and Nursery School

Class 3 students at Stanley Grove have been asked to learn from home this week.

Lessons will be provided online.
