Emma Turner, whose son, Lewis Parkinson, is in Class 3 at the school, decided to set up a fundraising page so parents could contribute as a thank you to the staff and teachers at Stanley Grove for all their help and support during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emma said: "We think the teachers and staff have been absolutely fantastic throughout the Covid-19 crisis, risking their own health to look after key worker children, whilst also continuing to engage with children at home and keeping parents reassured by communicating regulary.

"We wanted to organise something special for them to say thank you and invited parents of children across the school in other year groups to contribute to the gesture. We set up a page so that parents could contribute to the thank you project.

"We wanted to use any funds raised for a celebration of the staff's hard work. A number of suggestions have been made, including hampers, vouchers, a restaurant meal, of course, social distancing measures currently in place make it very difficult to decide what is appropriate, but what we certainly would like is a thank you plaque and/or banner for the front of school, for everyone to see how grateful we are."

And the generosity of everyone certainly shone through with over £600 raised.

A special thank you scrap book was also put together for teachers and staff, which parents have been contributing to with comments and pictures.

"It has been really great to hear how much parents across all year groups appreciate the work the school has done throughout this crisis and how grateful they are."
