The video shows teachers and other members of staff sending written messages of encouragement to their pupils along with demonstrating how to keep busy during isolation.

The idea came about when two members of staff, Zara Cole and Jordan Carrington, wanted to put something together for the pupils, to show them how valued and important they are.

They emailed Dominic Pinto, who is Head of School, last week with the idea.

Dominic said: “It is obviously a weird time for all the pupils, especially those in Year 11 who were set to do their exams they worked so hard for, so it’s been quite a stressful time for them.

“I OK’d the idea because I thought it’s what the kids need to hear at this time.

“They emailed all staff asking them to send pictures of them with a positive message, I expected a decent response but it was nice to hear that nearly every member of staff submitted a photo.”

The video was finished and uploaded to YouTube on Monday evening and within less than 24 hours, it had over 8000 views.

Dominic said: “It’s been good for the community in Pontefract, as social media is a big forum for the pupil’s parents, it’s a positive message for them too. The staff have received a brilliant response from parents.”
