Crofton Junior School is to close this afternoon due to increasing temperatures.
The school, on Slack Lane, said: "School will be closed from 1pm due to the high temperatures in school."
It said parents were informed of the decision yesterday to provide sufficient notice.
The school is expected to re-open tomorrow morning.
