A spokesperson for Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate, said: "Due to a staff member testing positive for Covid, a year 2 class as well as 17 children from the parallel year 2 class, and three other children, are now self-isolating with our remote learning resources available them to ensure they do not miss out on their education.

"Throughout the last few months we have worked tirelessly to ensure we have gone above and beyond the official guidance with the safety measures we have implemented across the academy, including sanitiser stations based across the site and PPE available for all staff and children.

"However, despite our best efforts it was always inevitable that issues would arise during this unprecedented time, but we will continue with our hard work to ensure that we minimise the risk as much as is possible for both staff and children."

It comes after Kettlethorpe High School said earlier today they had been advised by Public Health England of a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

They said: A "small number" of children who have been in contact with the affected student will now be asked to stay home for 14 days as a precautionary measure.

Also, in Tingley, Woodkirk Academy confirmed that someone tested positive on Monday.

It has not been confirmed whether the person was a pupil, teacher or other member of staff. However, it has affected the Year 11 group.
