The staff, who work at Highfield School, on Gawthorpe Lane in Ossett are now self isolating and awaiting the results of tests.

Anna Hartley, Wakefield’s director of public health, said: “We are aware that there are two staff with Covid-19 symptoms who are self-isolating and awaiting test results at Highfield School.

“The school made the decision to close one class in their post 16 provision due to staffing numbers.

“If the test results come back positive, we will continue to work closely with the school to provide support and advice.

“We understand that parents may be concerned, but please be reassured that all necessary steps and precautions are being taken.”
