Georgina Lawton, 22, and her friend, Tori Thompson, 19, have been left stranded in Hurghada after flights back home stopped during the coronavirus pandemic.

Their hotel has been closed and the girls don’t have much money left, they have no air conditioning or hot water and are cooking food in their hotel room with a couple of pans they bought.

Georgina’s Mum, Gail said: “It’s been so heartbreaking, before it all happened they were both loving it and living the dream.

“It’s scary because they are running out of money to get by.

“It's so worrying at this time, everyone’s so concerned about the coronavirus, they’ve got nobody there to help them with what they’re going through.”

A Gofundme page has been set up to help get the girls on a rescue flight home, the flight will cost them £550 each, the girls are desperate to be back home with their families.

Gail said: “Last week, we had a flight booked for them from Egypt to Istanbul, then Istanbul to Manchester, however the flight to Manchester cancelled.

“Hopefully, with the Gofundme set up, we should be able to bring them home by Saturday if we can get funds sorted."
