Wakefield is one of 36 towns and cities across the UK that could face a second lockdown
It comes after Leicester announcing it will not be subject to easing of restrictions on July 4, and must continue lockdown measures with all non essential retail being told to close once again.
It's been revealed that a number of towns and cities in Yorkshire could also be placed back into lockdown as a result of local increases in coronavirus infections.

Hide AdYesterday, in Wakefield, another case of coronavirus was recorded.
Public Health England figures show that 791 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Tuesday morning (June 30) in Wakefield, up from 790 the same time on Monday.
A week before, there were 787 cases.
It means cases have increased by less than 0.5% over those 24 hours, on a par with the rate of increase across the UK.
They were among the 15,346 cases recorded across Yorkshire and The Humber, a figure which rose by seven over the period.

Hide AdCumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
As of Monday, June 29, , the government’s Public Health England website states that there have been 311,965 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, with 815 confirmed positive on the Monday.
So while the numbers are decreasing, the virus is still prevalent.
New cases have been rising in 36 of the 151 upper-tier local authorities in England as lockdown has eased.

Hide AdBut while these areas have reported an increase, in many cases it is only very small. But in some, the rise in cases is larger.

Public Health England data states that Havering and Wiltshire have seen the biggest week-on-week increase in infections.
