Yesterday, in Wakefield, another case of coronavirus was recorded.

Public Health England figures show that 791 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Tuesday morning (June 30) in Wakefield, up from 790 the same time on Monday.

A week before, there were 787 cases.

It means cases have increased by less than 0.5% over those 24 hours, on a par with the rate of increase across the UK.

They were among the 15,346 cases recorded across Yorkshire and The Humber, a figure which rose by seven over the period.

As of Monday, June 29, , the government’s Public Health England website states that there have been 311,965 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, with 815 confirmed positive on the Monday.

So while the numbers are decreasing, the virus is still prevalent.

New cases have been rising in 36 of the 151 upper-tier local authorities in England as lockdown has eased.
