'New lockdown can prove pubs are not to blame' Pontefract landlord says

The landlord of two Pontefract pubs has backed the new lockdown and hopes it will prove the pubs are not to blame for the rise in cases.

Scott Wilson, owner of Pontefract's Liquorice Bush and Beastfair Vaults, said support needed to be provided for businesses to get through.

He said: "In all honesty I think it's a good idea, it may benefit out industry, it will hopefully show that the rise in cases hasn't come from hospitality, and has infact come from universities, schools etc.

"There does however, need to be a greater support package for us, and at the moment no one seems to know what is happening, there's been talk of it being extended into December, which would have a catastrophic effect on hospitality."
