Rebecca Miller was suffering with issues surrounding her mental health in lockdown, juggling her children’s home learning, working and other day-to-day stresses.

Knowing there would be many others going through the same daily stresses, she started an online support group to reach out to parents who may be in a similar situation.

Rebecca said: “I understand how hard it is having young kids while struggling yourself.

“That’s why I put the support group in place, to help people with things from ideas on activities to do with their kids to having a rant to get things off their chest.

“I feel sorry for both children and parents, these times are putting lots of pressure on everyone.

“It’s affecting us all in different ways so it’s important not to suffer in silence. Someone else might be able to relate to what you’re going through, it’s so important to speak out.

“For example, someone’s kids might not be sleeping, they might have dietary issues or be having trouble focussing on learning.”

Members of the group can share their thoughts, experiences and feelings with other parents, support each other through sharing help links and just having a chat.

Even though Rebecca is experienced working with families and children, she had made it clear she is not in a position to give medical advice.

But she promises that she will seek the professional help required if anyone should need it.

The Facebook group is private, so all posts and messages will remain hidden to those who are not members.

Rebecca said: “I hope I can reach more people out there, I felt something needed to be done.

“We’re in a time where a lot of people are on social media, so what better way to use it than to set up this group - a place where everyone can give support and empower each other through these awful times.

“This is a no judgement group, we’re all human and with kids and now more than ever it’s especially challenging.

“If you are struggling or know a parent who is, please help them reach out.”
