She said: “I’ll be running my own version of the Great North Run with my husband Mark. And by running I mean, plodding, jogging, walking, crawling and crying our way round.

"Despite everyone thinking I run all of the time, I have developed a really bad habit of not training and rocking up to runs and seeing what happens! Not advisable, by the way.

“Therefore, for this challenge we have trained properly to complete it within a decent time. Wakefield Hospice is local to us and we know how much charities have suffered during the pandemic and we want to do our bit. We’ve raised nearly £250, but our target is £700 so we need people to dig deep to help us get there.”

Francesca’s challenge is part of the #RunForWakefieldHospice campaign to help recoup some of the money lost through the cancellation of the annual Wakefield 10k. The event initially rearranged for September but has been postponed again until Sunday. March 21 2021.

Keeley Harrison, fundraising manager at the Aberford Road hospice, said “We have been so touched by the innovative way people within the community have supported us at this critical time. We need funding now more than ever to continue providing the level of care that we pride ourselves on.

!We love Francesca’s determination and it’s so lovely that she thinks so fondly of us to support us with this challenge.”
