Both organisations have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, with Wakefield Hospice forced to close their charity shops and cancel the fundraising events they rely on to fund their hard work.

And staff at Pinderfields Hospital have worked tirelessly throughout the year to care for hospital patients.

The two organisations have now teamed up with the Card Factory to launch a festive fundraiser which will support the hospice and hospital.

As part of the "Buy once, give twice" initiative, members of the public are asked to donate £3 to Wakefield Hospice.

In exchange, they will be able to gift a bag of eight chocolate truffles to be delivered to staff at Pinderfields Hospital, along with a personal message of their choice.

Keeley Harrison, Fundraising Manager at Wakefield Hospice, said: “Usually in the lead up to Christmas we create hampers full of treats to raffle within the community which raise £9,000.

"Of course this year this isn’t feasible and with a second lockdown our usual outlets such as pubs, clubs, salons and restaurants are all closed.

"The fundraising team then came up with the idea that it would be great to show appreciation to Pinderfields Hospital staff by asking the community to sponsor the chocolates for us to pass on.”
