Castleford fish and chip restaurant may soon be serving alcohol

Customers of a Castleford chippy may soon be able to get a beer with their fish and chips.

Papa's, on Carlton Street in the town, has applied for an alcohol licence from Wakefield Council.

The owners of the restaurant and takeaway have asked for permission to sell booze between 11.30am and 10pm, seven days a week.

They've also requested a licence to play recorded music throughout its opening hours during the week.

Members of the public have until Thursday, March 12 to comment on the applications.

The local authority will then decide whether or not to grant or reject the applications.

Papa's Castleford diner is one of 17 fish and chip restaurants the business has across the UK.

All of them are concentrated across the North and the Midlands.
