That's the theme behind a new bar coming to Wakefield city centre.

The team behind the Golden Pineapple on Wood Street and Velvet Bar on Market Street are about to unveil their latest venue.

The Northgate venue will be an 80s-style video shop in the front and a hidden speakeasy style bar in the back.

Company director Noel Roberts said: "Imagine if the 80s never finished - we're making something like what an 80s would bar look like now."

He said the look of the bar would include neon glass artwork, chrome, black leather, tables that light up and a solid conrete bar top.

Operations manager Nathan Birkinshaw said Wakefield in recent years has had a lot to offer.

He said: "Wakefield over past four or five years is amazing, so much more choice than Leeds in terms of independent bars and restaurants.

"It has done a great job of keeping that DUY mentality together. It's looking really well compared to most towns and cities."

The bar is set to open on Friday, October 9.
