Dale and Kathy Tate chose to auction off their four bedroom family home earlier this year, after deciding to relocate their family to Australia.

Deciding against traditional methods, the family instead opted to raffle off their house to one lucky winner.

A total of 400,000 raffle tickets were made available, each costing £1.

But the raffle is now approaching an end, with fewer than 40,000 of the tickets still available for purchase.

Dale said: "We did it on a bit of whim, but it's gone viral quite quickly. It would be amazing if we could get a lot of Wakefield residents involved to stick their names in the hat.

"It would be lovely for a local person to win it.

"My wife's Australian, I met her over there and we moved back here. We've got four young boys.

"But with everything that's gone on with Covid, we thought there's a better qualify of life over there.

"We don't really want to rent the house out from the other side of the world."

The four bedroom home, in Ossett, is a new build, and features an open plan living/dining room, a spacious living room, off-road parking and private garden.

Phillips Smart Lighting is installed throughout the house.

And to sweeten the deal, the Tates have even thrown in their 2017 Volvo XV90 Hybrid, which they estimate to be worth more than £30,000.

A year of car insurance and council tax will also be paid upfront.

Speaking earlier this month, Dale said he hoped the win would change somebody's life.

"Somebody is going to win this house," he said. "That would be the best send-off for us, knowing that we've changed somebody's life.

"We've got decorators in. We want it to be perfect. They're going through the entire house and decorating everywhere.

"Whoever moves in to there is going to have no worries in life. It would be nice if we can get there.

"We never expected it. I never in a million years thought it would get to 200,000 [tickets] in 10 days.

"It would be nice for somebody in the Wakefield area to pick it up, what a great opportunity.

"Get a ticket and that's it, you've got as much chance as anyone."

You can buy raffle tickets here, or take a virtual tour of the house on the Matterport website.
