Pontefract Park - piles of rubbish left behind after easing of lockdown

Dog walker Ann Hardwick said: "Pontefract park this morning resembled a land fill site. It’s absolutely disgraceful and quite upsetting that people think it’s acceptable to leave their rubbish behind; we honestly couldn’t believe what we saw and it was a hazard for our dogs with broken glass everywhere.

"With the warmer weather and races starting again I can only see things getting worse and I think something has to be done and the problem highlighted

"Possibly more than two bins in the car park may help but I doubt it. Looks like the easing of lockdown has brought along new problems.

" It's an utter disgrace that our public spaces are abused in this way."

The matter has been reported to Wakefield Council and a response is awaited.
