Popular Pontefract festival is latest to be cancelled
The Friarwood Festival is the latest event to be cancelled due to the ongoing restrictions.
The event at Friarwood Gardens in Pontefract was planned for August 22 and despite the possibility that lockdown could be lifted by then, organisers say that due to the uncertainty the decision has been taken to shelve this year’s plans.
The family event is now in it’s third year and welcomes bands and singers to play live, while stalls and food outlets are also set up.
The money raised by the festival helps with the upkeep of the park.
