Storm Henry is expected to bring gales of 70mph to the region and Highways England has issued an amber alert for motorways and major A roads. Exposed routes, including the A66 over the Pennines and high points of the A69, are particularly dangerous to high-sided vehicles such as lorries and caravans, as well as motorcycles.

An amber warning means drivers should be prepared when setting off on journeys.

Areas to avoid are:-

A628 – Woodhead Pass

M62 junction 23 to 25 – Huddersfield to Brighouse
