Wakefield Hospice wins big with National Lottery funding

Wakefield Hospice has been awarded a £10,000 grant to help staff continue their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The funding, provided by the National Lottery, will help staff adapt to a new way of working and reach out to more people during the crisis.

Wakefield Hospice works with more than 300 in patients and 1,800 day therapy attendees each year, and says it has lost around £80,000 a month in funding as a result of cancelled events and closed retail shops.

The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money to good causes, and is the largest community funder in the UK.
