A1(M) closed after serious accident
Motorists face delays this afternoon (Wednesday) after a serious accident has closed the A1(M).
The southbound carriageway is closed between junction 41, where it meets the M62, and junction 40 near Ferrybridge.
Police said that one vehicle was involved in an accident at around 11:30am this morning.
A spokesman added that it is likely the northbound carriageway will also close to allow the air ambulance to land.
The Highways Agency said the road is not expected to re-open until 6pm this evening.
