Accident and strong winds causing travel delays
An accident has closed one lane northbound on the M1, between J40 at Flushdyke and J41 at Carrgate. There is congestion back to J39 at Durkar.
Strong winds are also slowing traffic on the M1 and M62 motorways, and trains have been delayed at Westgate and Kirkgate stations because of debris on overhead lines, but most services are now running normally.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning, which means you need to be prepared to change your plans and protect yourself, your family and the community.
The wind is expected to settle by around 3pm this afternoon.
