Writer and composer James Sidgwick has spent more than a year devising his first musical, which will be staged this week.
The 29-year-old from Airedale has co-written comedy musical, Supertown, with Robert Sanders, which will be performed by amateur dramatic group LIDOS at The Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds.
Mr Sidgwick said: “It’s almost unbelievable at times.
“We have to pinch ourselves when we’re standing watching a room full of 29 incredibly talented performers, plus an amazing crew and fantastic choreographers, all working on our material.
“Everyone involved is doing it for the fun of it, and the fact that they’re devoting such time and effort to make this world premiere a success is a real honour to us.
“We just hope the audience likes it.”
Mr Sidgwick has also been successful as an actor since joining LIDOS in 2011.
He was most recently recognised as the Best Lead Male in a Musical at the 2014 Leeds Civic Art Guild Awards for his part in Seussical earlier this year.
Supertown, set in a town full of superheroes and supervillains, is showing at the theatre tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm and Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
