Appeal after woman killed in M606 collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the M606 near Bradford yesterday afternoon.

The Major Collision Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, which took place just before junction 3 on the M606 northbound at around 2pm.

Two HGVs, a Renault Laguna and a Ford Fiesta were in collision.

A female driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 60-year-old Bradford man in another car received serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to LGI.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody this morning.

Both carriageways were closed while collision investigation work was carried out and the scene was made safe.

Det Sgt Carole Greaves, said: “We are continuing enquiries into this incident yesterday evening and are appealing for anyone who witnessed what took place to contact us.

“I would like to thank drivers for their patience, as the closure although unavoidable, inevitably caused tailbacks and delays.

“Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.”
