Arrests after Leeds United vs Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup game

Twelve men have been arrested following a clash between football supporters in Leeds.

Around 40 fans clashed outside Yates’s Wine Lodge, on Boar Lane, after the FA Cup game between Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur on January 27.

The men, aged 17 to 53, were arrested on Tuesday night from addresses across West, South and North Yorkshire.

CCTV images were used to trace the suspects after the disorder, which included bottles being thrown at police.

Chief superintendent Paul Money said: “This was an appalling explosion of violence in the heart of the city centre at tea-time on a Sunday and is obviously not something that we can ever tolerate.

“There is no doubt that any ordinary members of the public who witnessed these scenes would have been put in fear. It also tied up a significant amount of police resources that had to be brought in from other parts of the division.”

Detectives have now issued images of two men they still want to trace in connection with the investigation.
