The supermarket giant has withdrawn its Little Angels 2 Newborn Soothers 0+ Months after a mum complained on Facebook that the teat had become detached from the hard casing. Her child was not injured in the incident but Asda said they ‘take any complaints about baby products extremely seriously, which is why we have taken the decision to recall the soothers as a precaution’.

Customers can return the dummies for a full refund.

It is the second time in just over two years that the chain has recalled its dummies after a fault was identified in its Little Angels Cherry Soother packs in January 2013.

An Asda spokesman said: “These are two isolated incidents involving different products.

“These are sold in twin packs, the shield is clear and the plug on the front has a number of different designs.

“We have had one customer complaint that the teat has broken away and detached from the hard casing, so we have taken the precaution of taking the product off sale and recalling from customers due to the possible risk of choking.

“The care and safety of our customers is our top priority, which is why we are recalling the product even though there has been only one complaint and we are yet to conduct our investigation.

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
