The latest Apollo astronaut to visit Pontefract has been hailed the best yet, as Al Worden, command module pilot on Apollo 15 was interviewed by students at Carleton Community High School.

Mr Worden commanded the fourth Apollo mission in 1971 and earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most isolated human being during his time alone in the command module Endeavour. Ken Willoughby, who organised the visit thanks to a £1,000 grant from Wakefield Council, said it was the “best ever visit”.
