Attempted robbery at pensioner’s Havercroft home

Two men demanded money from a pensioner and tried to force their way into his house in Havercroft on Monday night.

The pair knocked on the door of the East Street property and pushed the man over as they tried to force their way past.

They demanded money but the elderly victim managed to stop them getting into his home.

The two suspects left empty handed and ran off down East Street towards Cow Lane.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery, which happened between 10.30pm and 10.40pm on April 6.

The suspects are both described as aged between 17 and 19, of slim build and between 5ft 8inch and 5ft 10inch.

One had brown hair and was wearing an orange jacket.
