YOUNGSTERS got up close and personal with Daleks and the Tardis last week as a Doctor Who author visited their school.
Pupils at Redhill Junior School in Castleford met author Daniel Blythe, who has penned a series of novels chronicling the adventures of the famous time-traveller.
Each student was treated to a workshop with the writer and a signed copy of his books Autonomy or Shadow Runners.
Margaret Brownlee, headteacher, said: “It got the children’s attention straight away talking about Doctor Who.
“They all know about the character and it was a really good day. The children enjoyed it and did some very descriptive work.
“Daniel was really pleased with them and the quality of the work they produced.”
Children in years three and four were given the task of designing a monster for Doctor Who to battle against, while year five and six students took part in a creative writing workshop to get them thinking about using adjectives.
Mrs Brownlee added: “To have someone famous come in and look at their work was very exciting for the children.”
