Bands set to showcase talent at Pontefract Crooked Ways festival

Talented young musicians bagged a spot on a festival stage following a battle of the bands competition.

Airedale Academy girlband 3G and Hemsworth Arts and Community College band Chemical Child wowed judges at the Battle of the Bands competition hosted by West Yorkshire Police - winning the chance to appear on stage three at Pontefract’s Crooked Ways music festival on Saturday June 1.

The competition, at Pontefract NEW College, also showcased the talents of Castleford Academy’s Frequency, Mongoose in the Pumphouse from Featherstone St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School, The Stranded from Kettlethorpe High School in Wakefield, No New Reason from Minsthorpe Community College, South Elmsall, Into the Abyss from St Thomas A Becket Catholic School in Wakefield and Crofton Academy’s Infinities.
