Disabled sport will be celebrated as part of a new festival launched by Wakefield Council and Wakefield Able2 Club this weekend.

Featherstone Sports Centre will be at the heart of the ‘Paralympic Gold’ event which starts on Friday with an opening ceremony hosted by mayor of Wakefield, Coun Elaine Blezard.

Activities such as wheelchair basketball, football and rugby , swimming, cricket and table tennis, will all be on offer between May 3-6 and will give people an opportunity to experience their favourite sport for free.
