Castleford Tigers will host a free celebratory event at the club’s Mend-A-House Jungle after this weekend’s Challenge Cup final.
The club will hold the event at the ground on bank holiday Monday, August 25 irrespective of the result on the day.
Turnstiles at Wheldon Road will open at 1pm and fans will be able to show their support for the players when they take to the pitch at 2pm.
Michelle Cooper, media and marketing manager at the club, said: “The last week has been amazing for the town of Castleford and we are overwhelmed by the buzz in our town.
“Most clubs only celebrate a victory at Wembley but we feel it’s appropriate to reward our fans regardless of the outcome on Saturday.
“We hope the whole town get behind us and back us to a win and we’ll look forward to welcoming the Castleford Tigers family along to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle to welcome the boys back home.”
Following the celebration event, the team will be guests of honour at a civic reception at Castleford Civic Centre.
Castleford councillor and deputy leader of Wakefield Council, Denise Jeffery, who is a Tigers fan, said: “We are tremendously proud of the Tigers’ achievement. Just getting to Wembley is something to be celebrated.
“Of course as the Council we want to do the right thing by the team and celebrate their achievement with a Civic Reception. Both myself and Peter Box, the leader of the council, are life-long Castleford Tigers fans, so it’s even more exciting that we can officially welcome the team – whether as finalists or as winners – with a formal event.”
