Ms Kersey took three hours and 45 minutes to complete her fourth marathon in honour of the late Ralph Denby, from Wakefield, who served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. She raised more than £2,000 for the legion.

Ms Kersey said: “Grandpa was a keen sportsman who remained very active, particularly as a fell walker, for much of his 94 years. He devoted a lot of his time to help fundraise for The Royal British Legion and as a tribute to him I wanted to use this opportunity to continue his remarkable efforts.”
