The paintings were originally shown at The British Library and the idea behind the exhibition is that all the characters have been invited to sit for their portrait.

A new partnership with the British Library called the Living Knowledge Network amd ethe exhibition possible.

It promotes sharing resources, skills and ideas and promoting the values of libraries in the C21st.

Coun Jacquie Speight, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport at Wakefield Council, said: “We’re delighted this high profile exhibition is coming to Wakefield. “Sir Quentin Blake is an inspirational artist, whose work is known and loved by millions. I hope that residents from across the district will take the opportunity to visit and enjoy the activities we have planned.”

The exhibition will be complemented by art and craft activities, story times and a schools programme.
