Burger chain denies town move

Burger chain McDonald's has denied it will be opening a new restaurant in Pontefract.

Speculation has been mounting that the firm was planning to take over the old New Look clothes store on Market Place after a planning application was submitted in May for a change of use to a restaurant.

Since then social media has been rife with suggestions that the American firm were planning on opening a store, but a McDonald’s spokesman said there is “absolutely no truth” that they would take over.
