Bus services cancelled in Wakefield, Pontefract and Hemsworth as company ceases trading

A bus company has ceased trading leading to a cancellation of all its services.

Tates Travel ran services across West Yorkshire including in Wakefield, Normanton, Pontefract and Hemsworth.

A statement on West Yorkshire Metro’s website said: “Tates Travel will cease trading at the end of Monday, February 8.

“No Tates bus services will operate after this date.”

The bus services which will no longer run are:

24 - Barnsley - Penistone - Denby Dale (Mon-Sat daytime)

28, 28A, 28B, 29 - Barnsley - Hemsworth - Pontefract (Mon-Sat evenings & Sunday) (Stagecoach services are unaffected)

29B - South Hiendley - Pontefract (Mon-Fri mornings)

75, 75A, 76 - Middleton ASDA circular services (Mon-Sat daytime)

92 - Barnsley - Penistone - Holmfirth (Mon-Sat daytime)

96 - Barnsley - West Bretton - Wakefield (Mon-Sat daytime)

96A - Barnsley - Denby Dale (Saturdays)

97 - Woolley Village - Wakefield (Mon-Fri daytime)

157 - Wakefield - Normanton - Pontefract (Mon-Sat evenings)

443 - Wakefield - Hall Green (Evenings all week) (Arriva 443 and Stagecoach 443 are unaffected)

485 - Wakefield - Ackworth - South Elmsall (Daily)

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority hopes other bus operators may take on the cancelled services.
