The authority is expected to make savings of £24 million in the next financial year, on top of the £119 million savings that have been made since 2011.

‘YouChoose’ is an interactive budget calculator on the council’s website which highlights the difficult choices that need to be made when making savings, and people are being encouraged to try it out.

The results will then be fed back to decision-makers, who ultimately have to make tough choices on where to make savings.

The budget calculator is available until December 18. For more information, or to take part, in the YouChoose exercise, visit www.wakefield.gov.uk/budget
