Car crashes into tree near Pontefract Monkhill station

Two people had to be cut out of a car after crashing into a tree near Pontefract Monkhill Railway Station.

Emergency services were called to the access road to the station, off North Baileygate at around 3.30pm this afternoon (Friday).

A fire service spokesman said a car had swerved and rolled down an embankment before crashing into tree.

Crews from Pontefract and Castleford fire station cut the two adults from the car and they were treated for injuries by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

No train services have been delayed by the incident.
