The 18-year-old was sent out of the competition by judge Mel B last weekend after singing an acoustic version of Halo by Beyonce at the former Spice Girl’s home in Mexico.

But after being handed a wildcard by judge Simon Cowell, Jack, of Aketon Road, was greeted with huge cheers after he performed Rhinna’s Only Girl In The World on tonight’s (Saturday’s) show.

Speaking after his performance judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini said: “Yes, Jack! That was such an amazing song choice. I would never have thought to put a twist on that song.”

Simon Cowell said: “I love that you are honest. The chicks are going to love you. I think it’s a job well done.”

Louis Walsh added: “Simon, you did Mel a big favour by putting Jack through because he deserves it.”

Former Castleford Acdemy pupil Jack now has to wait until tomorrow night (Sunday) to see if he has done enough to make it through to next week’s show.
