Chief executive Steve Gill has praised Castleford Tigers fans for the way they have supported the team vocally and in numbers in 2016.

The Tigers crowds stood up well in a season in which the team had a number of ups and downs before they eventually clinched fifth place and Gill claimed the supporters had shown themselves to be the best in the Super League.

He said: “I would like to thank everyone for their support once again, after a very interesting eight months.

“We all enjoyed an exceptional finish to the season, winning five from seven in the Super 8s.

“The reception the boys received at our last game and the superb acknowledgement of the service given to the players leaving us for pastures new was a credit. I firmly believe that we have the best supporters in Super League!

“You have stood behind the team through all kinds of adversity and through your support the club has grown into a force within Super League.

“We have achieved this by realising what is important and what isn’t, we learn to care less about what other people think of us and more of what we think of ourselves.

“We realise how far we have come and we remember when we thought things were such a mess that we would never recover.

“But we can smile! We can smile because we are really proud of Castleford Tigers and the club we’ve fought to become. Thank you to every one of our fans from everyone here at the Tigers.”

Gill is hoping supporters continue to back the club by buying season tickets, prices of which have been frozen. Anyone signing up before December 3 can take advantage of early bird offers and sign up before November 21 and fans can split the cost over six monthly payments.

Castleford Tigers are holding their annual bonfire and fireworks display on Friday, November 4 at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
