CCTV released of assault on woman at Xscape

Detectives in Wakefield have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with an incident last month, which left a woman with facial injuries.

The incident took place at the Xscape complex on Saturday October 17 around 11pm, as a 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were waiting for a taxi.

They were approached by two unknown males, who engaged them in conversation before one of the suspects assaulted both the man and the woman.

The female victim received a number of serious facial injuries for which she required hospital treatment.

The suspects made off in a taxi and It is believed that they may have later attended pubs in Pontefract town centre.

Detective Constable Seth Wrigley of Wakefield CID said: “This attack has left the victim needing treatment for facial injuries. 
“I would appeal to anyone who may have been at Xscape that evening and may have seen the assault, or who may have any information about the incident to come forward.

“Equally, who may be able to identify the person in the CCTV should speak to police. Enquiries are ongoing.”
