Consistent forward Matt Cook is happy to put any new contract talks on the back burner as he concentrates on doing his best to get Castleford Tigers as high up the First Utility Super League table as possible.
Cook is contracted to the Tigers until the end of next year and enjoying his rugby league with Castleford Tigers, having missed only two games this season to prove to be one of the team’s most reliable forwards.
He is open to staying longer at Castleford, but it is not his priority right now.
He said: “I’m contracted for one more year. It would be nice to have it extended, but at the moment my focus just has to be each week for the season.
“For the moment my contract is sorted, it’s not a priority until next year really.
“If they come to me and say about staying longer or if the opportunity comes then we can discuss that, but at the moment all I need to be focusing on is my rugby and my performance and try and get some consistency out there. Be at my best, the team be at our best and start getting them wins. Maybe contracts come knocking then.”
Cook added; “I’ve only missed two this season, with a harsh ban probably.
“It’s nice to be playing week in, week out and I’m pretty happy.
“I’m a bit like the team I need a little bit more consistency in my own game to be fair. I probably feel I have started to find that in the last couple of weeks.”
