Council on grit alert as temperatures drop

Wakefield Council say they are keeping an eye on the weather and are ready to grit if needed.

The Met Office has this morning issued a Yellow Warning for snow for large parts of West Yorkshire.

Temperatures will plummet this week and rain will turn readily to snow even at low levels on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wakefield Council say that when the temperature drops to below zero, recautionary gritting is carried out on A and B roads, commuter routes, steep main roads to villages, housing or industrial estates, including roads leading to main hospitals and large schools.
