A CONSERVATION charity is looking for volunteer rangers to take care of Fryston country trails.
Wakefield Greenspace Group – which aims to protect and preserve the Fryston site and Frickley country park in South Elmsall – hopes Fryston residents will come forward to get involved.
The group needs volunteer rangers to work with Wakefield’s ranger service and West Yorkshire Police to monitor the sites.
Barry Malki, group director, said: “The Fryston country trails land is all reclaimed country park that’s had work done on it and it’s such a big site that we are trying to get people to volunteer to look after it.
“People who live nearby, who walk their dogs here, will notice if something changes or is damaged. Anybody can get involved, as long as they are over 18. We’ve already got some volunteers who are people who use the site everyday.
“So much money has gone into regenerating this area to make it a community resource, it would be a shame to let a few people spoil it.”
