West Yorkshire Police said they had received three reports of attempted burglaries on Gannet Close, Castleford, in which screwdrivers were used to try and gain access to houses.

The reports all took place overnight on Sunday, August 16.

None of the burglary attempts were successful.

But officers have now warned those who are concerned about burglars to consider installing sash jammers on their windows.

The small, low-cost devices are fitted to the inside of doors and windows, and provide an additional layer of security in the event that a lock is bypassed.
