Castleford woman jailed for second knife offence

A Castleford woman caught with a knife in public for a second time has been handed six months behind bars.

Kelly Marie Bavister, of Wood View Bungalows was arrested after police were called to the address on October 12 when she was refused entry into the property by her partner and became aggressive.

She was wearing a jacket that did not belong to her but knew it had a Rolson knife in the pocket.

The 37-year-old admitted possessing the knife and a small quantity of cannabis.

The court was told that she suffers from emotional problems stemming from a troubled childhood, but accepted that her behaviour that day was "appalling".

Having been convicted of possession of a bladed article in 2104, a minimum six-month jail term is mandatory for a second offence.

Held on remand at HMP New Hall, the judge gave her the minimum sentence.
