Man arrested after police officer shot

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a female police officer in Leeds this morning.

The policewoman is currently being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries in hospital.

The man was arrested at 10.10am on Wood Lane in the Headingley area of the city.

It is believed the shooting took place just after 4am today at Cardigan Road in the Hyde Park area of Leeds.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said two uniformed officers attended a “routine call” to a disturbance and were confronted by a man at the address who fired at them.
