Mateusz Skibinski, who runs Czantoria on High Street in Normanton, says the premises has been repeatedly pelted with eggs by the gang, which he says is made up of between 10 and 15 boys.

Mr Skibinski says the gang has been hanging around outside the store most days for the last fortnight since he refused to sell them cigarettes a couple of weeks ago and it's intimidating his wife and brother-in-law, who both help him run the store.

The police have been contacted about the problems, which Mr Skibinski are also now affecting neighbouring shops.

However, after officers were called last weekend, the gang dispersed.

Mr Skibinski, 27, said: “It’s been horrible. My wife works with me and she is really scared to go home when she finishes work around 9pm.

“We don’t know what to do about it.

"Last week this was happening every day and it's carried on this week. At one point they threw an empty glass bottle into the shop."

“We think it’s because we refused to sell them cigarettes a couple of weeks ago. There’s a group of about 10 to 15 of them.

“The police haven't been able to do anything. I called them at the weekend and they came 40 minutes later, but by then they’d all gone.

"It’s really crazy and we just don’t know what to expect next. It's very frustrating."

Shops selling essential goods remain open in Normanton despite the lockdown restrictions.
