Police seize £500,000 of cocaine from vehicle on Yorkshire motorway

Police in West Yorkshire have seized more than £500,000 worth of drugs from a van on a busy motorway.

Officers stopped the van on the northbound carriageway of the A1M at around 10am on Thursday, May 14.

After searching the vehicle, they discovered more than 7kg of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of £560,000.

Raj Seechurn, 38, of Wellesbourne Crescent, High Wycombe was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Officers from the Leeds District Programme Precision team are leading the investigation.

Detective Superintendent Carl Galvin said: “This was a significant seizure of suspected class a drugs that could have caused real harm to people in our communities.

“Through Programme Precision we are working together with local, national and international partners to bring those responsible for serious and organised crime to justice.”
